A Growing Need
Grow to Give is a community led food initiative, providing fresh, locally grown food to food banks and community fridges across Buckinghamshire.

Food charities have seen an increase in demand for food since the Pandemic and this has continued with the cost of living crisis.

We believe that everyone should have access to fresh food.

Local allotment growers sometimes end up with too much of a particular fruit or vegetable. By donating their surplus they can support local people at a very difficult time - reducing any food waste and having a meaningful impact.

Since we started in 2020, as a response to The Pandemic, we've donated over 11 tonnes of fresh food. Our key highlights for 2024 were:

-
Donating over 2,500kgs of fresh food - the equivalent to 2 giraffes in weight!
-
20 allotments participating from across Buckinghamshire
-
Over 250 growers and 40 allotment champions support us
-
Working with 4 local food charites
-
Supporting over 3,700 local people and families with fresh food

Fruit & veg are vital, our "Cooking A Rainbow" recipe cards encourage food charity clients to use as much as possible in family favourite meals. Take a look for some ideas.

We also encourage sustainable growing wherever possible - have a browse of our Grow Well info for tips.

And finally, a special thanks to our supporters, Helping Hands via Buckinghamshire Council & The Rothschilds Foundation.
